Examination Results 2022

Public Examinations took place this year for the first time since 2019, and we are very proud of all Year 11 and Year 13 students who have received examination results this summer. The past two years have been challenging for them, but they have worked extremely hard and have embraced the support of their exceptional teachers.

GCSE Results

A fantastic 90% of students achieved at least 5 standard passes (grade 4+) including English and maths, and 78% achieved at least 5 strong passes (grade 5+) including English and maths. 30% of all grades were at 9-8 (top grades) and 52 students achieved at least 8 or more grades at 7 – 9. We are equally proud of the number of students who have made exceptional progress over the past 5 years at St. Mark’s.

We celebrate their amazing achievements, and we look forward to welcoming the majority of our students into the Sixth Form in September. We wish all students leaving St. Mark’s every success in their new courses.

*A parent guide to Progress 8 and Attainment 8.

Progress 8 and Attainment 8 are now two of the most important ways that a school's performance is measured.

Progress 8 = the progress made from the end of year 6, when the Key Stage 2 Sats in reading and maths are taken.

Attainment 8 = based on students' attainment (the grades achieved) in their eight subjects at GCSE.

At St. Mark’s, we are committed to ensuring that ALL pupils achieve their potential and make exceptional progress. This is reflected in our examination data since 2018:

  • St. Mark’s Progress 8 figure has been above 1 since 2018 (well above average – one of the highest performing non-selective schools in the country). This means that your child will make greater progress than if they attended most other non-selective schools in the country.
  • Attainment 8 = 63 (consistently above 62 since 2018)
